ConnectED Supports International Competition for Young Researchers

On 4 June 2026, the final conference of the International Competition of Scientific Projects for Students and Young Scientists "YOUTH INTELLECT. Rational Use of Nature and Newest Energy-Efficient Technologies" brought together young researchers, academics, and experts to showcase innovative research addressing today's environmental and sustainability challenges.

This year's competition attracted 48 finalists representing 24 universities, research institutions, and secondary education establishments from Ukraine, Poland, Slovakia, and Canada. The presented projects covered a broad range of topics, including energy efficiency, environmental protection, waste management and recycling, sustainable natural resource management, mining, and construction, highlighting the important contribution of young researchers to addressing contemporary global challenges.

The competition was organised by the Educational and Research Institute of Energy Saving and Energy Management of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, together with the NGO Scientific and Technical Society of Chemmotologists and the Ukrainian Oil and Gas Academy. The event was held under the patronage of the German–Ukrainian University Network ConnectED and with the support of Ukrainian and international partners.

Supporting initiatives that encourage young researchers to develop and present their ideas is an important part of ConnectED's mission. By bringing together students, early-career researchers, academic staff, and universities, competitions such as YOUTH INTELLECT create valuable opportunities for scientific exchange, interdisciplinary dialogue, and the development of future research collaborations across institutional and national borders.
